Genesis Desktop is made by Faith Inc, a company incorporated in Alberta, Canada, located at 202 – 1277 3 Ave S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 0K2. We comply with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). For anything in this policy, contact us at [email protected] or 1 (403) 607-9616.
From purchasers (parents and schools): your name, email address, billing details and licence information when you buy Genesis Desktop, and whatever you send us when you contact support. Payments are processed by our payment provider; we never see or store full card numbers.
From family (Home) use: almost nothing. Child profiles, screen-time settings, points, documents, paintings and activity history are stored locally on your own computer. They are not uploaded to us. The app contacts our servers only to validate your licence, check for updates, and fetch content you've requested (such as approved YouTube playlists).
From school use: schools provide student rosters (typically a first name or username, class, and a sign-in passcode) and students' school work — documents, paintings and app-usage analytics — syncs to the school's account so it can follow the student between devices. We process this information on the school's behalf and instructions; the school remains its owner.
What we don't do: no advertising, no third-party ad or analytics trackers inside the child's environment, no behavioural profiling, no selling or renting personal information — anyone's, ever.
Genesis Desktop is designed for children but purchased and administered by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. A child cannot create an account, enter an email address, or communicate with anyone through Genesis. Parent email verification exists precisely so that only a verified adult can change safety settings. Where student information exists (school accounts), it is provided by the school under its own authority and parental consents.
To deliver and activate the product, sync school work between devices, provide support, send essential service emails (receipts, licence keys, verification codes, renewal notices), improve reliability, and meet legal obligations. We send marketing email only if you've opted in, and every such email has a working unsubscribe link.
Cloud data is hosted with reputable infrastructure providers and may be processed in Canada and other jurisdictions where those providers operate. All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit. Passcodes and PINs are stored hashed, not in plain text. Access to customer data inside our company is limited to the small team that needs it for support.
We keep account information for as long as you hold a licence, plus what tax and business law requires. Schools can delete individual students at any time from the Teacher console, which removes their cloud-stored work; when a school's agreement ends, its data is deleted on request. Local family data lives on your computer — uninstalling Genesis (or deleting a profile) removes it.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you. Schools may do the same for their student data. Write to [email protected] and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're unsatisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
If we make material changes, we'll update this page and note the new date above; for significant changes affecting school data we'll notify school administrators directly. Continued use of Genesis Desktop after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
